Welcome to my personal website. I am currently serving as a Principal Investigator at the Heidelberg University Biochemistry Center (BZH). My research has a keen interest in understanding the intricate interplay between proteins and lipids within cellular membranes. I combine computer simulations with in vitro reconstitution experiments. My focus is particularly on the role and influence of lipids in these complex systems. Given that a single lipid type can already form stable membrane, what accounts for the presence of numerous lipid types in our cellular membranes? Do proteins possess a distinctive lipid signature? What are the consequences when we engineer the lipid environment surrounding these proteins?
